Decisions about the application

I visited oxford several times and I really loved the city and the university.

Cambridge was a bit too small for me and also didnt offer a straight physics course, which was what i really wanted.

I have always enjoyed physics and find it really challenging and interesting.

We were given one mock interview with the school chaplain- the only oxbridge graduate on the staff. It was nothing like the real interview but helpful all the same as it gave us more confidence in our interview techniques.

Just re-visit your a-level physics and maths work. Also practice sketching graphs as i was asked to do this a lot!

I sat the physics aptitude test . I prepared for it by looking at past papers on the internet which i went through with my physics teacher.

My first (physics) interview was quite tough as the questions were unlike anything i expected (on topics i hadn't revised).
However my second (maths based) interview was much better as the tutors were very freindly and helpful.
My third interview was at wadham and again, the tutors were very nice to me.

I was asked to plot a graph of y=(sin x)/x which threw me a bit, and then to plot a graph of d2y/dx^2=-y . I was also asked about the distributions of dark matter within a galaxy- and derived an equation relating the density of dark matter to the radius of a stars orbit (?).

I wore a smart/casual outfit.

I loved St. Peters as it was small, freindly and very central- two minutes walk to the main shopping street.
