Decisions about the application

Felt i'd regret it if i didn't.

Preferred the course at Oxford

Had the most Computer Science tutors, and looked just as good as the rest of them.

A mock interview was given, but I wasn't in school that day...

A maths exam. I didn't prepare for it (I was fairly happy with Pure maths at the time anyway). Any revision I could have done wouldn't have helped anyway.

I was given 2 interviews at Worcester, and 2 interviews at New College. All fairly similar, 1 computation, 1 maths. All of them with 2 people. Asked me a few standard questions to get me settled down, and then in to the problems/puzzles. For the first computation interview we were given a sheet with some problems on to prepare the day before

#1 Computation; just went over the sheet #1 Maths; Could 1 billion and 3 be created by adding two perfect squares (no, it can't). Draw x^3 and x^5 graphs. Differentiate y=sin(sinx) ... don't forget substitution and chain rule! #2 Computation: Odd/even puzzle, and questions on dominoes.... ie how many dominoes in a dominoe set #2 Maths: How many lines can be drawn between points on a square/hexagon etc, and then an equation for n sides.

Shirt, tie, trousers. No suit, because I don't have one.

Not as nice as Trinity, but Trinity didn't offer Computer Science. Large grounds, with lake, trees, grass, that sort of stuff..!

My accomodation was in a fairly old building. Large room, bed, sink, desk. Shower/bathroom at the bottom of the staircase (freezing!!)

Not as nice as trinity ;)

All smiles.... it was just the questions they asked!

Didn't get much contact with them... but didn't see any geeks!

Final stage

I opened it, got the reply I expected, and wasn't that bothered.

Looking back

Yes... 4 days in oxford is an experience, even if you don't get in.

Don't worry.... bring warm clothes ... December is COLD in Oxford, especiallly if you don't have warm clothes.
