Decisions about the application

I went to the Cambridge summer school, and although it was very enjoyable I prefered Oxford as a city, and felt that I would enjoy it more there, and fit in better. Also you do not have to take STEP papers at Oxford.

I knew someone who is there doing the maths course, and he was saying how friendly and down to earth the college was, and so I felt that would be the best place for me.

They helped us with filling in our forms. They also gave us mock interviews, although they were nothing like the real interviews, but they did give me confidence before I went.

Read arround the subject, try to learn basic definitions of everything, and just say everything out loud.

There was one test which I did past papers for. However I found this years test a lot harder than those in the past, but this might have been due to the pressures of being in an exam !!!

There was a written test on the first day, then one interview on the second day, and three on the third.

I was asked about why oxford and maths, what i enjoyed at A-Level, and about teaching (as thats what I want to do as a career). the conversations were mainly on maths tho, these included integration, differentiation, curve sketching, balls bouncing (mechanics) and a bit of probability

I wore a shirt and trousers, and then a off the shoulders top with trousers. I wanted a casual outfit that also looked smart.

I was lovely, it just seemed so perfect. It was more modern than other colleges, but it also had a bit of tradition to it, with lots of trees and lawn which would be ideal for revision in the summer terms.

My room was quite small, but it was cozy. I had the usual bed, desk, chairs etc, and I was really pleased with the accomodation. Some rooms had balcony's but they wasn't as nice.

It was generally excellent and the price lists I saw were very cheap. However it seemed like it was chips everyday and not many low fat foods, but the quality was good though.

Very friendly. They made me feel really relaxed and never looked down on my, just encouraged me.

They seemed very friendly, and it was a reallt relaxed atmosphere in the Hartland room. They took us out a lot to make us feel less nervous at our interview.

Final stage

i cried, I was so happy, and then i couldn't stop smiling. Then i stopped to think and realised that I had to get 3A's and so began to worry again, lol

Looking back

Yes, but I would try to be more relaxed about it.
