Decisions about the application

Top physics department in the country, offer of one on one tuition, and great student facilities

Oxford offered a course specialising in physics, wheras Cambridge offered a Natural Sciences course.

Accomadation available for all years on course, central location, nice size. Friendy Students

No, had left college and was on gap year, so didn't get any help

The Forms: You don't have to put anything in their seperate box, the stuff I wrote wasn't mentioned at all.

The interview(s): Revise all your maths for exam, will stop you worrying about the physics

A maths exam - wasn't too hard, but was very rusty after not doing any maths since leaving college

1st interview - maths with two of the physics tutors, was given an article to read through first (20mins) then had to apply what I had read in an interview. The second was with two physics tutors, and included a bit on my personal statement and then working through problems on the whiteboard.

Maths Interview - had 20 mins to read about partial differentiation, then was given examples to do in front of them. had to descibe what shapes certain 3D eqations would give. In the Physics Interview "If the moon moved from its oribit into an orbit closer to the sun, would it be travelling at a quicker tangential velocity? and why" - made a right pigs ear of this

Smart trousers with a shirt and jumper

Oriel was not too formal or grand - saw some other colleges which would have loved to have lived in, but Oriel was very friendly, and quirky

My room was alright - dirty though and floorboards creaked, so was creeping around room!

Edible but not great

Mushroom Soup aint great

Quite Friendly, Andrew Boothroyd calmed us all down, but don't think I found any of the other candidates who liked Pedro Ferreira seemed really arrogant.

The head of the JCR Matt?? was v friendly and was running around frantically in a santa hat

Final stage

Just said no - I'd pretty much assumed that as I hadn't been asked for interview at any other colleges

Looking back

Might do - the worst they could of done was say no, didnt lose anything

Head to the JCR and chat to other candidates - better than sitting alone in room worrying
