Decisions about the application

Because I had good grades it just seemed expected, and I wanted to myself.

Wanted to do PPE

Chance really. But it's small and friendly and has good accommodation.

I had some advice on the application procedure (filling in forms and what work to send off). I also had a mock interview, which wasn't much like my actual one. I'd just done a philosophy module in General Studies, which helped.

Not really.

An economics essay on wages that I'd written in timed conditions, and a modern history essay. They seemed most related to the PPE course.

I had a written test Monday morning, and a single interview with two tutors in the afternoon (see below).

We were given a passage of political theory (something Marxist/Mao-ist if I remember rightly) to read in advance. It had five questions on the bottom, and we were basically just asked those.

Jeans, a Nirvana t-shirt and a padded shirt. Why not?

Jesus - Small and friendly, but it can be a bit insular too.

Varies, but generally good accommodation (provided all 3 years)

Edible but not great.

Individual meals often quite good, but over the term you get sick of the same-y college food.

Mixed (including male/female, public/private school split) but most friendly.

Final stage

It was after our 6th Form Xmas Ball and I was staying round a friend's with all my other friends. I was pleased, but then again we'd just been partying so I didn't go ecstatic or anything (it was already 3am)

Looking back

Yes an Oxbridge education's totally different from any other university, but definitely worth it.
